Guest Dave P Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 This is my first time on any forum so bear with me .I,ve just bought a Galaxy 2.3 Ghia 2000 model, the stero system is a 2007 RDS with CD changer. When switched on the screen just shows TEN and nothing works. I,ve read the audio manual and it tells me this means that somebody has had ten atempts at putting in the code after the car battery running flat, and clearly failed. It also says that I now need to take it into a ford dealership to get it unlocked.I,ve phoned two dealers first one said they would have to send the system to fords,6 weeks and Quote
mumof4 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 right..the code may be written on the top of the head unit..you will have to gently lever it out to see...i know this as we lost our bit of paper that was in the car with the code written on it,so we just took out the head unit and had a gander!! hope this helps.. ahh :P 4got...had 10 attempts already..did u not check the stereo b4 buying??? id take it back to where u got it from and get them to sort it out :P welcome to the friendly forum! :P Quote
Guest Dave P Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 The manual has the code with it but nothing at al works it just comes on and shows all buttons locked Quote
Guest Dave P Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 By the way mum of 4 bought the car at auction difficult to take back Quote
Guest MATT Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 if someone has had ten attempts, then its locked and needs re-setting by a dealer/ford. i think i read on here somewhere, that if you pull the radio apart, there is a group of solder dots on the circuit board somewhere, lick ur thumb, and put it over them, will/might re-set. but done a lot since i read that, so dont quote me. might be cheaper and better to buy a nice sony unit! MATT  Quote
mumof4 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Ah right..you never said in your original post that you bought it at auction! What you on about MATT is on the other thread called RADIO CODES.. :P Quote
Justice Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 I am sure if you disconect the battery so the aux power is also cut then after a few hours it will let you attempt to put your code in again, I say this becouse I had the same problem on my Transit and that is what I did to solve the problem only difference is mine was a 2006 RDS not a 2007. steve67car Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 where abouts are you in this beautiful country of ours  Quote
Guest MATT Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 lol - i had that radio in my old galaxy lol it worked fine, but i replaced with a cheap JVC CD Tuner - sound was better. and i chucked the old radio in the bin!! lol it was the 2nd worst radio i have ever had, number 1 being in a vauxhall frontera lol buy a new one, you know it makes sense. cheap as chips lol MATT Quote
familyman Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 ;) According to manual after 10 incorrect attempts the radio is permanently "locked out until reprogrammed by ford motor company " it might be worth trying local autotrader magazine as ads often appear for unlocking of radios Quote
Guest Dave P Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 :( If anyone is interested alot of car audio shops will unlock stereos. I ended up paying Quote
