strouf Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Hello everybody ! My Gal (2.3ghia petrol) has only 300Km. on the odometer, but...This is my first post , much sooner than I thought. Problems started already, when after taking the car home for the first time, the headlights would not go out, unless I switched off the ignition.Dealer said the car was meant to be driven in Scandinavia (?) where lights should remain lit at all times. Their garage fixed it the following day. I 'm now concerned about the engine cooling system specs. I live in Athens Greece and the climate is not exactly like in Norway ! I've noticed that temperature climbs up to ninety degrees within five or so minutes of driving. O.K, it stays there as the fans are working full time, but I need to know what is the right temperature range for the engine thermostat and if there are more differences in the cooling system or cylinder head. I know that car manufaturers (e.g. Mercedes) use different sizes of coolant inlets-outlets in their cylinder heads, for different markets. So I wander if this is the case with Ford. Your experience would be more than helpfull! Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 You would be better off getting the DRL's reconnected, some time soon they will be mandatory in the EEC, as for the stat ? you could just get it replaced via the garage, that way you will get a Greek specced version :( the only difference in the cooling system that I can find is that for higher temp climes there is a secondary radiator fitted to some vehicles? strouf Posted February 27, 2006 Author Report Posted February 27, 2006 Thaks for your answer, no second radiator as far as I can see... What is the DLR? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 When you say the fans run all the time, they will if you have aircon switched on or if you have Climate Control, the temperature on the climate control is set below the outside temperature. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Daytime Running Lamps, as fitted as standard by Volvo in an attempt to get you noticed more and prevent accidents, which in the case of most ovloV drivers are a means of boosting their failing eyesight  or why else would they buy such ugly cars if their eye sight wasnt bad? Quote
strouf Posted February 27, 2006 Author Report Posted February 27, 2006 Thanks again...Agree about Volvos, but you have to admit , the XC90 is a beauty! About the fans now, they work on and off as they should, but more on than off ! The temp yesterday was 17degrees here, but still it doesn't feel normal... Quote
