Evening guys and girls.

This morning on my way to work, the old temp guage of the old Gal got into the red. Pulled over and the plastic "T" piece at the back of the engine, looks like it joins a couple of pipes, one of which goes to the cabin heater, was leaking some steam.

Took the cap off at work and lost a load of water. Filled up before leaving this evening and the same again happened. Once at home I had a quick look and the same plastic "T" piece was steaming again, when I touched it, the pipe broke.

Could this be the cause of the overheating, or as a result?

Have done a search on the subject, and am going to try the thermostat as peeps reckon its the cheeper option for replacement, plus the water pump isn't making any noise.

It is giving symptoms of a gasket breech between a cylinder and the water jacket, you need the coolant chemically tested for exhaust gas.

thanks for the reply. Where can that be done, and how much is likely to be?

Have got car running outside now, and even though temp is up to half way on guage, there's still a bit of steam? coming from exhaust.
