Hi

My Galaxy, a 2.8 Auto on a P plate, occasionally stalls at low revs, slow traffic/speeds etc. It only seems to happen after the car is fully warmed up and is sometimes preceeded by erratic surging of the revs.

Once stalled the car usually restarts fine and runs OK. It does not happen all the time but it is a bit disconcerting.

Any help gratefully received!

MAF  or try checking the air hose from the filter box to the throttle body for leaks? also check the crank case vent valve and hoses foe leaks? the valve is known to fail and this can cause a few odd running problems at low speeds :( then try cleaning the throttle body and checking the operation of the throttle position sensor and it's cableing

MAF's are expensive but it was a joke answer along with scuttle drains....... :( check out the air intake system first and cleaning the throotle body and then move otn the electronic bits :D

"The Electronic Bits!!!!" Now I really am getting worried. I had better speak to the bank manager!

What electronic bits could be playing up?

I had a servo pipe crack once. result ? stalling at low revs/idle, loss of assisted steering and braking ! nightmare.

20 quid fix, but scary what can happen for what sounds like a minor fault.

Thank you to everyone for your help on this. Sounds like it is fixable without breaking the bank. I shall get these things looked at and report back.

Well I had the Galaxy into the garage. Apparantly the radiator was shot so she had a new one fitted. All seemed fine for over a week and 100+ miles and then it played up again on Sunday. Erratic revving and then stalled. It was very hot outside but the temp gauge showed no excessive temperatures - that moment had been perfect.

Also Air con not working!! - I can see this is a regular.

Oh - and the window on the front passenger side has decided to stop working!

AND - The speedo seems to be haunted! It goes all over the place at times before settling down to the right speed. Sometimes it will say I am doing 150 mph pottering about town!!!

ANY HELP PLEASE!

:(

UPDATE

My mechanic friend tells me that it needs to be hooked up to a computer - anyone got one near to stockport?!
