putting it very simply, the system works in reverse when heating is called for. (in that the evaporator coil gets hot instead of cold)

either way, by having it on 'auto' all year round, you are circulating the all important compressor oil and so keeping the system happy.

 

and forget about the eco warriors who say it drinks more fuel...... the cost of a compressor change will probably take 50 years to re-coupe in fuel saving. ?!?! (and probably is cheaper than the drag of an open window in the summer..(me ?trolling ?! haha)

WRONG

The compressor is not used for heating at all. Air conditioning systems in offices etc can be used in this way by reversing the gas flow and theyre very efficient, typically up to 500% efficient i.e. 1Kw of electrical energy gives you 5Kw of heat. Automotive systems don't work this way though, there's usually a plentiful supply of waste heat.

 

I do agree with you re fuel consumption it's negligible, especially in wintertime and the benefits of leaving it enabled are huge.

just to sum up............

 

 

dixion ford rotherham franchise dealer did repair/bodge job.

 

after declining there offer to cover holes??????? they have offered me a brand new front landing bar..........which is a real bummer for them ,cost nd they got a rite job on to renew/fit this baby.

 

also the matter of not refitting the bumper correctly and rehousing the bonnet release catch has been photographed nd duely noted by both my-self nd the dealers.

 

so wat next??????????????????????

 

 

am already in contact with the local councils trading standards/consumer affairs, they have stated that dixions are part of the registered motor trade standards agency which means they should have someone availible to liase with on site and report back to the trading standards, but when i asked to speak with this person they said they had left the company??????????

 

 

am seriously considering contacting ford ,but would they really give a monkeys.........after all they make a fortune from these clowns.

 

also i dont trust these guys at dixions so am i crazy asking/telling them i want an f.o.c mot....

Give Ford a try but they will probably tell you that you need to sort the

problem with the dealer principal as your problem is with the dealer

and not Ford UK !! This is the response I got from them and I work

Ford must be aware of the access problem to the condensor because my fibreglass shroud, whatever it's called, has pre-drilled holes in it giving access to the bolts behind.

 

Might be worth trying to find out what the Ford brief is for removing the condensor. I wouldn't mind betting it's on a similar theme to what they've done to your vehicle, obviuosly in a much better way. Still no excuse for the damage they have done though.

Well the VW repair manual says radiator out and condenser out through the engine compartment.

 

Which I think says more about Ford than VW.

 

If I did mine at home I would carfully cut the fiberglass out though, not attack it!

just to remind you all were on borrowed time now to get this matter resolved has our son dale goes into hospital over easter for his 8th opperation on his leg (born with short leg on r/s)...........thats why we origonally bought our gal........wer not loaded at all.

 

also were goin to take our lad on a treat holiday to legoland just before easter so............there is little time to waste,to which ive already expressed these exceptional circumstances to dealer in question, adding weight to my issues with them, i think weve got em over a barrel????????????????

I feel this is getting way out of hand and could ultimately end up with the demise of this forum. Some relatively new members should at least have the decency to get to know members of the forum before they start attcking them. VR6 does have his moments and he may not be the most diplomatic member, he is however entertaining and in the main knows his stuff. Piss him off and we lose a knowledgeable and usually helpfull member so then what have you acheived?

 

Just my $0.02, by the way VR6 is always wrong when it comes to diesels ;)
