Guest chocolatebobbi18 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 my 96 galaxy glx has started to make a strange whiring sound whilst driving. It does not make the sound in standstill. It sounds like it is coming from the front right of the car when i am sat in it. I have been advised that it could be the power steering and that it is common for galaxys to get this problem but i am yet to meet anyone who has the same. The noise is high pitched and gets louder when i accelerate has anyone got any ideas please help its driving me crazy!!! Quote
marty16610 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 could be a slipping drive belt , tensioner pulley, water pump bearing etc. hard to tell without hearing it, sorry. Regards Marty Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Most likely a wheel bearing, but I tend to resist diagnosing sounds on the Internet..... Quote
bigdaddy Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 As you say in your post,,,,,,,,,no noise when at standstill,,,,,,,,,,,,i would go with the wheel bearing being faulty Quote
El Dingo Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Could be a siezed brake caliper, with one pad worn down to the metal. Quote
