Guest iancar Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006  i have recently had the water pump replaced on my galaxy, this was suspected to be causing my car to overheat, my car heating now blows cold all of the time even with the engine at normal temp, i'm getting it in the ear from the wife as she drives it mostly, has anyone got any ideas on what the cause might be??? thanksIan Quote
dipsomaniac Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 i am assuming you have climate control. have you tried decreasin the temperature to the coolest setting and and then increasing the temperature again? it worked for me when i had a similar problem after fitting a new air con compressor. Guest iancar Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 yes i have climate control, i did today get it to work slightly when i had it turned down to the lowest speed setting, as soon as i tried to increase the speed however it just went cold again no matter what i did, cheers ian  Quote
dipsomaniac Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 have you tried reducing the temperature (blue button) to minimum and then increasing? Quote
Guest iancar Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 i'll give it a go tomorrow, i'll post the results. cheers Quote
marty16610 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Hi m8. Has the thermostat been refitted after the water pump was replaced? Its not unusual for it to be left out or incorrectly fitted. Quote
dave_m Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 yes, it is a good idea to check the thermostat, the dealer never put mine back in and i had similar no heat problems Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 My money is on an air lock. The engine is heating up as normal so there should be hot water available. Try taking the expansion bottle cap off and running the engine from cold up to the point where the radiator fan comes on. Quote
Guest iancar Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 thanks all again, i'm off out tomorrow so i'll try all of the suggestions from everyone, just for info the thermostat wasn't changed during the water pump as it had only been in the car for about 6 months, i thought it would be alright, on the airlock note the water had just recently been drained so i'll work on that point even harder. thanks all againIan  Quote
