Hi all....had the battery off today to get to the plug on the abs module, put

everything back, started up (after a few turns of the engine) then drove home

with no power at all!! Manula says 'take a drive for 5 miles for the ecu to

recalibrate'...driven 15 miles still no good! Has it gone into safe/limp mode?

If it has is it a vag.com job to get it back? Phoned fords...absolutely uselesss!!!

Sorry for the garbled post...got a two year old insisting on helping me type !!

Thanks in advance..

Oooooopppss!!

Having taken the battery out and checked the connections at the back it appears

that in my haste to finish the job I hadn't pushed home a connector all of the way!

However...scanning through the TIS disc I found this entry under 'Battery Disconnection'....

When the battery has been disconnected and connected, the stored idle

and drive values contained within the powertrain control module (PCM)

will have been erased. The following steps must be carried out to allow

the PCM to relearn these values.

Start and run the engine at idle for three minutes.

When the engine reaches normal operating temperature, increase the

engine speed to 1200 rpm and maintain for approximately two minutes.

Drive the vehicle for approximately five miles/eight kilometers of

varied driving.

I hope the above may be of use to someone but please heed the moral of the

story...don't rush and re-check all of your connections!!!
