Guest greenflash Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Hi Everyone, hope you can idenity the cause and suggest a resolution. This morning the accelerator pedal felt a little dead and then progressively my mph came down to 10mph - I basically got the short hop back home on the clutch. The engine runs well and no warning lights...it feels like a cable has gone or a seal has broken. The pedal swings back but no rev increase. I can't find an accelerator cable so I'm guessing its electronic....if so does it sound to you like an electrical problem that can be rectified by a new unit..and if so, could it be self fix. Appreciate any help you can give. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 The TDI's are drive by wire so you wont find a throttle cable ;) sounds like the trottle pedal unit/sensor has gone U/S ;) yes it could be a DIY job to repair/replace, but check the cables to the pedal/sensor first or get the codes read and then decide on the course of action  Quote
Guest greenflash Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Thanks vr6galaxy, I'll give that a whirl...just what you need at the start of half term... Quote

SharanTDICarat Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 My Sharan done this a few months back on a round about but it reset it's self when I switched the ignition off then back on. Has not reoccured but I still get an occassional loss of power loke a misfire. Someone form this fourm suggestedit could be the throttle potensiometer in the accelerator assembly. TAM Quote
