I have stumbled across this site and hope that someone might be able to help.

I have a 2001 2.3l Galaxy which has 70k miles on the clock.

In the last couple of months I have started to notice a front end 'groaning'noise which is noticeable from 30 MPH+. If I put the car into neutral and let the engine idle the noise is exactly the same. Also it gets alot worse on left hand bends and can virtually disappear on right handers.

My local Ford dealer replaced an intermediate bearing on the offside drive shaft which made no difference at all!!

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem on both my present alhambra and my previous one,

turned out to be tire noise.

I spent ages on the first one trying to erradicate it, wheel bearings etc.

noise went away when i replaced the tyres.

also noise lessend when tyres wore thin.

It may be a wheel bearing, as I thought origionaly but swapping the wheels back to front

is worth a try ..noise will still be there but from rear instead of front.

good luck.

ps a friend of mine had the same problem with his sharran.

block type tyre patterns seem to cause the noise.
