bigdave982 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 hi all ,the car is a 97 1.9tdi glx In the top of the fuel guage there seems to be a red light ,the same as is found in the top of the temp gauge.Presumably this is for a low fuel warning light Does a 97 glx deisel have this ?the handbook is no help because it covers every option fitted to every galaxy ever made The guage functions fine other than that ,just want to kow if its supposed to have one before I pull the dash out looking for a blown bulb ps ,sticking 69.5 ltrs in a 70 litre tank also made me wonder a bit  Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I would say no  the low fuel indicator seems to be available on models with the Graphic display unit, which wasnt standard on the 97 GLX :( however as yours is a TDI and is drive by wire! you may be able to get it enabled? IIRC Jb80 mention this feature? or was it the cruise indicator? Quote
big_kev Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 My old 97 GLX 2.0L didn't have one.On closer inspection there was no little red lamp built into the fuel gauge at all and therefore would never work. The manual stated that there was one and gave full instructions ? Quote
johnb80 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Jb80 mention this feature? or was it the cruise indicator? Cruise control light. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 My 97 GLX doesn't have the fuel light - it's there but it has never worked. As for the 70 litre tank - I am sure it is actually bigger than that as I have managed to get 70 litres in before now. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Fords figures say 70Ltrs, Haynes say 70Ltrs approx so it could be a bit more if you brim it and open the vent  Quote
mumof4 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 my manual says 75 litres................... Quote
Guest whiterosessom Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Our '95 GLX has the low fuel light. And my wife is always checking to make sure it keeps working (she doesn't like putting the stuff in) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 My Bammer has a light. It's orange though, not red IIRC. Quote
bigdaddy Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 MM same as mine,,,,,its orange,,,,,,the overtemp engine/low water light is Red :) Quote
mumof4 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 you on about the one that looks like a petrol pump???we get that and a beep and a message that says "please refuel"! Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I have the "yellow" fuel pump illumination and the dam beep I seem to hear it all to often these days. On my old MK1 diesel I had the little orange lamp which used to illuminate the whole of the interior and was really annoying. . Quote
mumof4 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 :) as do we neil...only put in enough to make the pump dissapear!!cost of diesel is horrendous. Quote
