Guest djcrome Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Hi, Just bought an 2002 Galaxy Ghia and I am trying to determine whether it is the 115 or 130ps model. Someone said on the forum that the TDi badge is all in red for the 130 is this correct? Looking at the VIN plate in the engine compartment the engine code is H. I believe A is the 90, B is the 115, so is H the 130? Cheers Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 130 not available 2002. You have 115ps. Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 well that was blunt and to the point lol perhaps he has a proto type u never know dont see the point having a 115 and going for 130 just do a few mods save yourself a packet :P Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Blunt? How much can you say? What sort of Mods? Daft wheels? Sticky tape tint film? Teenage Spoilers? Bull bars? Tuning boxes? Sh*tchips? Floodlights? Blue bulbs? Washer jet lights? Fuel additives? Side pipes? Cat removal? 2000 Watt sub-woofers? Enlighten us. Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 it would seem uve got a bee in your bonnet what`s up all i was saying is my gal cost Quote
Guest djcrome Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 The question was how do you identify which variant. Quote
3HILTON Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 perhaps one should do the enquiry before parting with one`s cash!!! Quote
Guest djcrome Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 When I purchased the car was told and always assumed it was a 115, fine. But coming back to the orginial question (again!) I was wondering how you identify which variant; engine code on the VIN plate? What is the code for the 130? Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 have you called the dealer you bought the car fromor ask ford tech helpline Quote
iainkirk Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 If it's a 2002 it's PROBABLY a 115ps. 130ps not introduced until 1st December 2002. You can make it into approx 140-150ps with a plug-in replacement ECU though :P Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 1st 130ps engine didn't come out of Poland until 18/1/03 No 2002 130s exist. On the top of the camcover is a white paper label with 115 or 130 in biro. When I can get the 2003 TIS to load, I'll let you know the VIN code.... By the way, there is a vibration problem with the 130ps diesels.... Quote
Guest djcrome Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 fredt, thats the same details that I found on my 2002 Ford TIS CD, my engine code is 'H' :) what does this mean? Cheers Quote
Guest Dave Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 What sort Of Vib problems? Can someone with a 130 confirmthis? Thanks Quote
Tigger Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Looking at Galaxy's this weekend and 2 dealers said the same thing. The TDi badge on the back shows what it is. An all red one is 130, a silver one with red around is 115. By the way the power in off the 130 is quite something! Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Depends on Make/Year as far as the TDi badge is concerned... I think you're right with the all red letters on the Ford...denotes 130ps PD engine. The Alhambra has 130 TDI all in chrome. The Sharan has a mix! Quote
insider Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 The latest information I have on engine codes on the VIN plate are listed below. Therefore the 130PS diesel would have an engine code 'J'. A: 1.9 SOHC TC 90PS PDB: 1.9 TC 115PS PDC: 2.0 SOHC VW ST4D: DAG 2.3 DOHCE: 1.8 DOHC ST4F: 1.9 Diesel 90PS ST3H: 1.9 Diesel 115PS ST3J: VW 1.9L TC DSL/130PSK: 2.8 SOHC V6 ST4L: 2.0 DOHC EFI 8VM: 2.8 SOHC V6 ST2V: 2.0 DOHC FORD ST35: 2.3 SOHC ST46: 2.3 SOHC ST47: 1.8 DOHC ST28: 1.8 DOHC Mexico9: 2.8 SOHC VW Mexico (PD = Pumpe Deuse [VW diesel], ST2, ST3, ST4 = Stage II, III or IV emissions) Quote
jkspoff Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 130 not available 2002. You have 115ps. Just surfing some old posts and found this one, what is the 115ps ? Mine specifies 115ps but is this actually still a PD engine ?? Quote
TimsBamma Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Yep the 115 lumps are PD (Pump Duse), the letters ps are a european power measurement (German words I don't have to hand) which equate to approx 112/113 bhp. Happy Christmas  Quote
muppetdodger Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 I recently tried a new galaxy and was told it was a 1.8tdci, but was amazed how quick it was. Is it possible they conned me and it was really a 2l instead. I've ordered a 2l now, so if there is no difference between that and the test drive I shall go back and ask why!!! Call me cynical Quote
AndeeeH Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 The 1.8 TDCi comes in two flavours, 100 and 125 PS while the 2.0 TDCi is rated at 140 PS, so there should be some difference in the performance. :46: Andy. Quote
nohomers Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 This all seems confusing!!! I've just bought a 53 plate TDI Zetec with the TDI all in red, the garage was advertising it as a 115. The finance company and my insurance company have said its a 130!!!. Least it saved some money though as the 130 is more expensive! By the way the VW 110 has a silver TD with the I in Red!!! Quote
AndeeeH Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Engine code for 115 = AUYEngine code for 130 = ASZEngine code for 150 = ASZ1 Edited October 4, 2007 by AndeeeH Quote
davewill Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 My 2006 model has Silver TDI badge with Red background and iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis 115 ;) Quote
big_kev Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Engine code for 115 = AUYEngine code for 130 = ASZEngine code for 150 = ASZ1 I thought the 150 was the BTB engine or is this something different ? Quote
