PSBLUE Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Just got myself a galaxy and was hoping for some help. When I first get in the car the brakes making a grinding noise which goes away after 5 minutes, is this normal or a major concern. Also can anyone tell me how to tighten up the front seat arm rest? Many thanks P Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 On the side of the arm you will see a blanking plug? prise this out, in the depths of the hole is a bolt, tighten it up and jobs done <_< the bolt is a Torx's headed job, not sure of the size as it's been a while since I did mine :) as for the brakes! check the pads are ok? is the noise from the front or rear of the cars? it could be a grumbling wheel bearing? ps what you get in the end? PSBLUE Posted February 14, 2006 Author Report Posted February 14, 2006 VR6 thanks for that, any thoughts about the brakes tried them again tonight and it seems to go after 5 minutes? Also car just has radio/ cassette will any cd player fit? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Is it a Mk1 or a Mk2 2000? as the Mk1 has a single din unit which is an easy unit to change out  the Mk2 is a bit of a pig unless you stay in type and just upgade to higher spec OE unit or you need Din adaptors and filler plates if you drop in a single din unit  If it's the rear check the pads? it could be that the hand brake is sticking or the pistons dragging? do they get hot when it happens? Quote
PSBLUE Posted February 15, 2006 Author Report Posted February 15, 2006 Hi it's a mark one so it looks like a standard cd player will fit,as for the brakes no idea what to look at, may try kwik fit for a brake check to see if they can identify anything. Just the remote fob to sort out now sometimes it works and sometimes it don't,tried the batts and looked at the solder .. thanks for all your help..much appreciated.. cheers p Quote
mumof4 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 what is a din unit???is the mk2 a double din size? Quote
PSBLUE Posted February 15, 2006 Author Report Posted February 15, 2006 hi mumof4 my thoughts exactly- what is a din unit? I am a dealers dream, come in know nothing and pay loads.. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 hi mumof4 my thoughts exactly- what is a din unit? I am a dealers dream, come in know nothing and pay loads.. A DIN unit - it's just the size of the radio/CD player head unit. The DIn unit is the average sized unit - the Double DIn is just that the unit is about twice as deep/high. Mumof4 - your Mark 2 5000 is a double Din unit. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Mumof4 - your Mark 2 5000 is a double Din unit. :( Oh no it isnt! :( it's 1.5 DIN  Quote
Bigjeeze Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Mumof4 - your Mark 2 5000 is a double Din unit. :( Oh no it isnt! :( it's 1.5 DIN  Oooooooooooh!!!! Get her!!!! Now she's an expert all of a sudden!! :D :D :D I Quote
mumof4 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 But would a double din fit where there was a 1.5 din before or a single din?? (quick, run and hide!!) Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 But would a double din fit where there was a 1.5 din before or a single din?? Your asking for a slap :( double din is the largest size, so you work it out  Quote
mumof4 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 so you reckon it wont......but in my handbook it shows the 7000 rds unit....alongside the 2 5000 rds units...surely they would all be the same size? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 IIRC Thats because the majority of Fords OE audio units are 1.5 din  Quote
mumof4 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 but the one on ebay which is 7000rds......says its a double din unit from a scorpio!!!!!!!!...(i asked what size it was) Quote
