i may find that difficult as its got 66k on the clock.

i sure my mate said its a chain but mumof4 said about cambelt now got me worried as i have the service book and it doesnt mention cambelt at 40k on the service record. :)

guess i may not have as much slush fund as i thought vr6 :)

IIRC it used to be 60000 then they dropped it back to 40000, if it's not been done then it NEEDS to be done asap for your peace of mind and wallet :)

ours was a timing belt..to be changed at 40k....only 2 yrs of galaxys were to be changed at 40k..the rest at 60k....the 2 yrs of galaxys were found to have their belts snapping around 40k thats why it was changed(so ive been told)think it was the 2000 and 2001.

I'm off to check mine now - I was told that it was a chain (by a Ford Dealer!)

All diesels are belt - period

The 40 / 60,000 miles depends I beleive on whether it's a PD engine or not.

I'll have to wait for sk or mm to answer that one. All I know is I do and my belt is 40K. I think I'm right in saying all 115 / 130 / 150 are PD, the 90 & 110 are not. Don't quote me, I'm sure well get chapter and verse shortly.

Hi all

well ford say all diesels are belts as did johnb, replacement is 220 for belt and 90 for the pretensioners my mate says he will have it done by the maindealer on wednesday he cant believe ford told him it was a chain. So i think thats turned out ok for me.my mates furious at ford they never even said it needed changing. :(

Doesn't all this show what a useless lot Ford dealers are!

I was assured that mine was a chain and needed no maintenance.

And what on earth are thay thinking of fitting belts anyway.

I've had chains on all my cars, doing on average 200k of trouble free careful neglect. Perhaps thats why.... It forces us to take them back so thay can fit more faults.

:( :) :(
