Hi all,

I`m looking to buy my friends 02 Galaxy 1.9 TDi ghia auto i have had a look this pm and the only 3 things i can see are

1. Climate control display flashes for 10 seconds after start up then works ok?

2. Radio sometimes loses fm signal friend thinks it may be the ariel booster?

3. Sound of a jet engine coming from nearside rear door i think this must be the aux heater is this sound normal ( son thinks its cool) ?

Other than that it drives ok stops ok has no major scrapes in the paint or alloys and looks blinking good in silver any ideas anyone?

cheers

Ps i`m having it whatever !!!

CC panel flashing means a fault! it could cost you a lot to get it sorted! see if your mate is willing to get it looked at before you buy, you could loose a friend or a lot of money over it :D if you know what the problem is and have an idea of the repair costs ? you could come to an agreement over it before you fall out

1: The climate control flashing could be anything from complete failure of the climate control system to just a dodgy flap-vent. Check it on cold and if it works ok from all the vents then I wouldn't worry too much.

2: The loss of the FM signal is more likely to be a fault with the radio, but your right it could be the booster only way to check is by replacement, see if they will knock 50 quid off.

3: Perfectly normal

p.s. I wanted a diesel auto but couldn't find one at a decent price had to make do with a manual, nice motor enjoy it.

Thanks guys the climate works fine cold to hot it just flashes for 10 seconds before settling down to work.

It has the philips 5000 system i think with a cassette and 6 stack cd in the boot so i will plug the ipod into the cassette the loss of radio wont bother me.

Great i get a car that sounds like a jet and its normal yippee  :D :D :D

As stated before and elsewhere on the forum the reason the CC panels flashes is because it is showing that there is a FAULT with the system, this can be low gas, stuck flap, dodgy connection etc................ it could cost you a lot too get it sorted  check out some of the posts on AC/CC failures and the bills people have paid :D

sorry to rain on your parade but in a couple of weeks time when you start a new topic my CC doesnt work and it's going to break the bank fixing it ................. dont say you weren't warned :D

vr6....cc flashing...ours has done this for a while now.....but it soon stops and then works fine.........i take it this means a fault ???(sounding silly now)

Hi vr6 yep i understand what your saying but its 2k under what i can get elsewhere for the same year so will have 1k in the bank for such emergencies. As i said it went from freezing to red hot while we had a test drive. If it goes pop i`ll shell out to get it fixed at least he was honest enough to show me. How do you tell what the fault is .is there a fault code you can read or is it a trip to ford to get them to read it on there laptop?

It was the jet engine that had me worried i thought the aux heater must be jiggered.

Thanks for all your concerns but its the best i`ve seen for the price so will give it a go.

Vr6 get ready with the i told you so

cheers

Have been running around in my alhambra with the cc panel flashing on start up for last 8 months. air con working perfect. Buy the car if it's that cheap.

I'd be inclined to get the cc checked out, the fault code can easily be read by a dealer or aircon man.

As stated before, it could be something simple or something that could eat up your

My CC also flashes.

Used VAG-COM to pin down the problem to a flap motor - which still works, but is obviously requiring a few extra volts or something.

Having said that, the motor (and CC control panel) were fine until the aircon specialist took the entire dash apart to fix the leaking evaporator - which was indicated by flashing panel as the gas ran out. CC now beautifully cold - at a cost uncomfortably into 4 figures, and a big hassle getting the third party warranty to pay out.

On the other hand you can't expect perfection in a 2K motor - but it might be worth looking around to see if there are alternatives without a potential big bill on the horizon.

crikey theres a lot of flashing going on in galaxies :)

You look at the right web sites you can see more than flashing done in the back a Galaxy :)

The panel flashes on the Climate Control on start up.

When I switch from AUTO to ECON what should I hear as I can't tell no difference.

It heats up fine but as yet we haven't tried if it gets really cold in the summer.

Has anyone any ideas please.
