Hi

My Galaxy has recently developed starting problems. It has been into the Ford dealer and they changed the starter switch and a relay on the fuel pump. These were shown as faulty on the diagnostics. I did tell them the immobiliser light on the drivers door flashed intermittently but I think they chose to ignore that.

This morning 12/02/06 the car fails to start at all. The engine turns, but the immobiliser light on the drivers door is flashing like crazy. I have tried both keys but the light is still flashing. Does anybody have any ideas ?.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Just had a visit from local auto electrician.

Dry joint on relay 30. I would have thought Ford would have changed this relay when they changed the fuel pump relay. I did say the problem was intermittent.

Happy days.

blimey deja vu or what? we have a 1999 2.3 auto and yesterday 16th Feb the car started, stalled as I put it into drive, did this twice then wouldn't start. It turns over and nothing. However my hubby has noticed that when we put the key in the ignition, the sensor light on the door is flashing like crazy. We have three keys, two plain ones and a remote, which has never worked the central locking. We also have an abs sensor light showing and has been for the last year without any effect on braking.

We would be grateful for any suggestions, we can't really afford to go to Ford.

ABS Light on and no effect on braking is not true, it most definately WILL have an effect on braking in an emergency i.e. no ABS. It also makes your vehicle unroadworthy and technically uninsured when driven.

The usual causes of the ABS light coming on are wheel sensors/wiring/sensing rings. If you can get the code read you'll know which corner to look at.

Does the light come on and stay on straight away or does it come on just after you set off?

we think relay 30 controls power ??? certainly mentioned along with the central locking.

as for the ABS mentioned by John. Will tell my hubby to get it sorted. He has said he thinks the sensors need replacing and Ford told us last year around
