Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 AHH you mean matts one fairly useful post  or in this case pointless post :o If you have electric windows/mirrors you need to pop out the switches first, with the door shut push the switch panel towards the front of the car, then lift the rear edge of the switch panel, it should then lift out? unplug the cables and stash the switch unit somewhere safe also if you have door lights pop these out as well now the finger pull lever used to open the door, behind this handle is a black trim plate, pop this out, CAREFULLY as it's retaining clips are fragile! with this out you can now see a large screw, remove this now you need to prise the door card off the door  use something thin and strong, a putty knife works ok  there are eleven clips that hold the door card on :o your sure to break a couple or leave a few in the door and not remove them attached to the door card! if you do break any they are available from the dealers/most good motor factors or even matt could offer to send you his spares ;) when you have all the clips popped out, the door card will be held in place by the glass wiper seal along the top edge, hold the door card parallel to the door and lift it out of the top edge with the door card removed you can now see the vapour barrier :o you shouldn't need to remove this as you can now get to the speakers mounting screws, BUT if you do need to remove the barrier DO NOT CUT IT as matt suggested in an earlier post  place a sharp knife in-between the door and the barrier cutting the sealant holding it place as if your skinning the door :o that way you can reuse the sealant to re-affix the barrier back into place have fun :D Quote
bigdaddy Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Agree with VR6 ,,,,it's easy enough but watch those clips  ,,,,,also i found when i removed all my door cards,,,,,that the piece of plastic the holds the clips to the door card 2 or 3 of them came off  ,,,,,a little epoxy glue fixed this,,,,(arildite will do)  :o Quote
springen Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I don't know the reason why you are removing the door trim, but if it is because you need to replace one of those round 'fragile' speaker grills, you don't need to remove the whole panel. I've changed all of mine, when they have been damaged, by just removing the broken grills. I did this by VERY carefully by breaking the grills into small removable pieces (careful not to damage the speaker cone). This just leaves the round rim which can be eased off. I then just carefully stuck the new replacements on with some 'contact' glue (evo-stick). There is a 'notch' that you have to line up. Dead easy and they have stayed put perfectly for the past 4 years. Quote
