ridway Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 The latest manufacturer's brochure shows an anchor point in the roof lining for the middle seat in the second row. This allows the seat belt to operate normally like any other 3 point anchored system. My gal is the latest shape but has only a lap strap for this seat, no point in the roof. The TIS CD gives no info, or I can't find it. Does anyone know if this has been a recent modification on the latest model and if so when? Rich Quote
HJT Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I thought it was all facelift Galaxys that had the 3 point anchor for the middle seat. Seems I was wrong. It must have been soon after the facelifts introduction though, as every new shape I've seen has the 3 point belt. Howard Quote
Guest dmc Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 the new shape galaxy came out in 2000 on a w plate.the 3 point center seat belt was introduced sometime in 2001/y.i have seen an early 2001 without it and one built about may 01 that had it. Quote

We're currently looking at either converting our '96 Galaxy middle seat to a 3-point belt or getting a newer Galaxy with all 3-point belts and a rear load cover and it seams that although the 3-point belts became available on the middle seat in the 2nd shape Galaxy they were both optional extras and we're having difficulty finding one with both ! We have been to various dealers - some seem to think that it's no problem, while others think that it's like finding the proverbial needle and nobody has given us a definitive answer - even the Ford dealers. We've searched this site for details of converting it but there don't seem to be any recent entries - has anyone managed it yet ?? Quote
NikpV Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 the three point belt was standard from about mid 2001 onwards - any dealer that says otherwise may be avoided with loses anything essential. This guy recently converted his --> here Quote

I haven't gone ahead with it yet as we're looking at possibly trading our Galaxy in for a later model, they said they can supply and fit a 3 point retractable centre seat belt to our 1996 Galaxy for Quote
