Central Locking Blowing Fuses

Recommended Posts

Hi, anybody?

I have a Mondeo Zetec dated 2000 but its the 1997 onwards model.

The Remote control (radio) has been intermittent for a while now, then the other day i pressed it several times in frustration and the CL made a very funny (laboured) sound and locked. (Should point out that the car had been locking normally with just the key up till this point)

The doors could then not be opened with either remote or key (except driver/passenger door).

the CL fuse had blown, so i replaced it.

pressed the remote - no operation.

turned key CL double locked and sounded really noisey then would not unlock.

checked fuse - blown again.

did this 3 or four times same result.

I notice that the red alarm LED pulses continuously and when in the car a clicking can be heard from somewhere (behind dash?) unless i lock the front door from the inside then it stops.

So.... CL is doublelocked at rear doors effectively making my Mondeo a 2 door coupe

Every time i replace fuse for CL it blows at first try of locking...

...Alarm LED flashing continuously.

Have tried to re-program remote/enter self test mode neither can be done

PLEASE HELP.

Best regards in advance
