hi there all

i have a problem with my left front and rear indicator

all seemed fine while i was out driving this afternoon. but when i switched the engine off and got out the car i realised that the left front and rear orange light is still on. dont think it is flashing just a continuous orange light. so my other half played around a little switching the engine on and off a few times, playing with the indicator switch a little and ended up disconecting the battery for an hour then reconecting again but after a few mins the orange light is back glowing at us in the dark

any ideas anyone please

:( Did he not try tilting it to drain some of the electric out of the lamps babes? :)

I'm thinking maybe a nackered indicator stalk/switch unit

there are three indicating lights on the left hand side, are you saying that the far front one is on all the time, the one on the side isnt on, and the rear one is on?

so you got 2 on, and one off, when engine off only?

is this some form of warning system, that one of the bulbs have gone?

ie, the one that isnt on!?

or the control unit is duff.

UPDATE

thanks guys for ur replys

we have had another look !!!

all three ( passengers front side and rear indicator) lights are on continuosly

the only way we can turn em off is to disconnect the battery. but when u reconnect they come on again

years ago we had this prob with a car and the relay switch had gone. but that only had one relay switch

and on the galaxy we dont know what we are really looking for or where????????

Hi and welcome,,,,,,,Could be the relay or the indicator stalk or a bad earth,,,,,,,I think there are two relays for the indicators,,,,,,,the relays should be in the fuse box or the additional relay box in the engine bay,,,,,sorry i dont know which relay it is :)

hi there all

we have almost taken the panel to pieces under the steering wheel trying to get to the left relay in and around the fuses spent an hour or so on it but couldnt really sort it. the left relay was so tight to remove that my hubby gave up in the end and didnt get to swap left to right to see if it made any diff. but removing the left relay( we think it were the relay) didnt make any difference to the indicator continuosly being on at all

so we have given up on it now put it all back together and guess we will have to take it to the garage

thanks all

The relay is stuck. (welded contacts at a guess)

You must remove it....or pay the piper (

okay

the indicator bulbs stay on in any postion on the lever stalk no matter what we do

and not even sure if it( was the relay switch) that we did take out there was 2 of them the same in the fuse box i fink but if it was then it had no effect what so ever

has anyone got a pic or diagramme of the relay or its whereabouts please

sorry seem simple but these things are never easy are they?!!!

Turn on the ignition and then switch the indicators on while listening and felling which relay is clicking? then pull that one and see what happens? if the indicators stop? bingo thats the one ;) continue till you have fond the correct one?

Hmmmmm..I remember a similar problem occuring in a 5GT turbo I owned in my "Go faster days!" After much investigation, turned out to be a faulty after market alarm (Foxguard..I think) Anyway I dispatched it to a repairers who fixed the innards for about

Reading through the troubleshooting, it simply says to disconnect the indicator circut from the fuse-box and turn the ignition on. If the lights remain lit then it is a wiring fault, if not you need a new fuse-box. It seems the indicator flasher unit is built in.

I am tired though and will search more for you in the morning if I get time.

thanku so much all of u for the help

i have looked through diagramm many fanks for that but cannot find the relays there thanks anyway

my hubby tried taking one out but it did nothing

he says the vibration or clicking seems to be coming from within the fuse box

so it could well be a combined unit as Masked Marauder says

and if it is. is it the kinda job that one could replace our selves or must it go into the piper

many fanks

and goodnight to all

hi everyone

sorry i been so long posting an update but its taken this long for me to get over the shock of the bill

anyway

my galaxy was with the ford garage for almost a week before the could find the fault

it ended up (acording to them anyway) being a burned out wire

but they didnt say where why or what

i hubby was just so glad to get it back friday afternoon. cause i was driving to the middlands at tea time that very evening

thay said they had to strip the car down to its wires and back track every wire

to cut a long story short it cost us
