Guest ineedalager Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 I have a simailar problem with a 99 Ka I bought for my daughter to use. It blows cold only but the heater matrix pipes as they enter the bulk head are both hot. Does this mean my heater switch is faulty or is it this valve. I have had a look for the valve but I can't see it wear abouts is it? cheers Andy
Guest ineedalager Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 I have found were the valve is by reading another post on here about replacing the valve. It's under the panel beneath the wiper blades. You remove the wipers and take the two black plastic panels that sit below the windscreen. You take out the screws that hold the panel below that to the bulkhead. you can pull this panel back enough to be able to access the valve. I tested the valve wires to see if I was getting 12 volts to the valve with the ignition on he heater turned to hot. There was twelve volts there so the heater switch is ok. I then decided to take the valve off by removing the 4 torques srews that hold the cover on. I found that the valve appears to be a magnetic type with a piston that move back and forth to open and close the flow. It was full of water from the cooling system because it was red like my coolant with antifreeze. This was causing the valve to hydraulic and not open because it was pushing against he water. When I replaced the valve it worked fine hot air is now coming into the interior instead of cold. The best thing was I didn't spend any money do this just an hour or so getting my hands dirty with the help of this message board. Cheers Andy
