Guest pantsonfire Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Hi my rear left stop light is staying on since i changed the bulb. swapped both of them and made sure bulbs are the same type and correctly fitted but still one side is staying lit. also my rear washer no longer squirts water, makes pump noise and wipes etc but no water coming out, any ideas? 53 plate s quite newish, done 35,000 miles, service history up to date Thanks Tim Quote
soptom Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Check under the passenger seat for wetness. If it is, your rear washer pipe has come apart at the join under the passenger front door sill trim. Unsure of the lights problem. Quote
Guest MATT Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 no water at rear washer - could either be, the pipe under the front passenger seat has come apart. or it has come disconnected in the boot lid! - both of these have happened to me. the light issue. mmmmm, either some computer has lost its marbles. or it might be on eof the following. in the light unit there is something metal, that is shorting, causing light to be on.or the wires in the rubber boot - from door to car are damaged - causing it to be on. maybe another member could help. Guest MATT Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 also - you sure you didnt have your left indicator on, with engine off? as this would cause the left hand side lights to be on - maybe confused with brake light. MATT Quote
Guest pantsonfire Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Thanks Guys will try all, have a good weekend and happy motoring Timbo :D Quote
Philwalfc Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 It might be that the hole where the water comes out is clogged up. Try cleaning by poking it with a thin strand of wire. Quote
Guest MATT Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 that's another possibility - but pipe is most likely - it happened to me a few days ago -again!- maybe the cold makes the pipe contract, and thus disconnecting it. this time i superglued it together, and put small jubilee clip on, and the smothered it in more glue lol hopefully it will stay together this time! - if it doesnt, I'm going to lengthen the pipe a bit, and use a better form of connectors. ps - some searches will show you how to get at the pipes.i only noticed my pipe had broke, because there was an egg smell after using rear wiper. Guest franknun Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 or the wires in the rubber boot - from door to car are damaged - causing it to be on. maybe another member could help. MATTI've just fixed my rear washer (pipe adrift inside tailgate trim - see post 'I dont believe it') and noticed that the wiring loom in the off-side top corner of the tailgate had chafed, almost exposing the wiring. Perhaps this has happened here shorting out the stop lamp, is that why the original bulb had blown? Franknun Quote
