I have installed a new radio in my Galaxy, it all plugged in ok, the radio works no problem except it doesn't remember any settings, i.e station presets, I'll set and save them all, turn off the egnition, when I come back to it it has remembered nothing?

I have checked the wiring diagrams for both car and radio and the 12v constant memory wires match up ok?

Any ideas?

I have the same problem... fitted a Sony CD player into our 96 GLX Galaxy and it works fine except it doesnt store the memory and spits out the CD when the ignition is turned on. Have been been meaning to ask but kept forgetting :D just reminded me bryzee

Make sure there is a constant 12V supply on pin 1 of the 8 pin connector on the head unit, and pin 9 on the CD (both RED wires). Depends on which original fit you had!

Also make certain that pins 2 and 6 are definitely grounded, (Brown and Brown/Yellow)

The ignition controlled feed is on pin 3 (Brown/Red), and the illumination dimmer feed is on pin 4 (Grey/Blue).

Sorted, the constant 12v and ignition switch wires were the the wrong way round, I have swithched them and it is now perfect, thank you very much SA Intruder you were spot on.

Griffiths, it sounds like the same issue on your stereo, on the plug from the car the 12v constant is a red thick wire and the ignition swith is a thinner brown and red one (as SA Intruder said), on my stereo the 12v was orange and the ignition was red, they were the opposite way round to the plug from the car, both wires on the stereo had fuses and plugged in there so all I had to do was switch these and hey presto, this may be the same on yours?

Thanks again.

PS. My car is a 98 TDI.
