Guest Smoking Gary Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Judging by other comments on this site my problem is not uncommon. i am guessing that it relates to the auxilliary and/or booster heater. When it's cold and I start up I am consumed by clouds of blue smoke coming from the heater pipes between the front and rear wheel on the passenger side, underneath the car The local Ford dealer tells me that it will smoke when cold but I have had the car since new (October 2002) and this is not normal. It clears once the vehicle has warmed up. Any ideas please? What it wrong, how can I fix it and what is it likely to cost? Thanks Gary - still smoking Quote
Guest blatters Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Hi Gary, Here is the link that will inform you: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...wtopic=3304&hl= Your dealer is behind the times. You appear to have a glow plug that is not igniting the diesel properly. Because it's not burning cleanly the smoke is pouring out of the small exhaust. If you're under warranty then this will be covered. If not then there are postings on this site that explain how to open and strip the unit (no thanks personally). My Ford dealer is David Harrison - website is www.davidharrison.tv Your dealer can give them a call as thy have helped others. Regards, Blatters Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 High moisture content in the air will cause a bit more smoke but if its a bit excessive then it needs looking at! there are enough posts on the topic of how to fix an aux heater! so knock yourself out and have fun reading them all <_< Quote
