fionnmacz Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 ok ......I feel dumb. rear brake lights stopped working, and have tried all but the fuse. how do i get into the darned fusebox! I cannot remove the plastic cover over the top of them in the footwell. it is about to get bust off ! Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 There should be a finger pull in the panel cover? hook your finger in and pull, on the Mk1 it just fold down from the top, I believe it's the same for the Mk2 Have you checked the brake switch is ok? Quote
fionnmacz Posted January 26, 2006 Author Report Posted January 26, 2006 where do i find the brake switch, and how do i check it please ? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 It's on the brake pedal support, up under the dash, you can just about see it and get to it if you stick your head in the footwell and wedge your head inbetween the pedals  if you have cuise control you may have two switches on the pedal? it should be the upper most switch? try resetting it first, push the pedal down and hold it down, then pull the plungers out of the switch/s to their maximum length and then release the pedal, when the pedal hits the plungers and pushes them back to the resting position it's done  if this cures the fault replace the switch/s as they are sure to fail again  Quote
fionnmacz Posted January 26, 2006 Author Report Posted January 26, 2006 It was the brake switch........after trying everything else, the contacts were dirty and with a scrub up, all is well! cheers biguns' Quote
