Joshua Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Last December my galaxy (MkII, 2.3 Petrol) went in for a service / checkup as she was misfiring and losing power. Turned out she needed new plugs and 1 new HT lead. All ok for 1 day, then sudden loss of power and misfiring. Back into the shop - turned out the HT lead (end under the engine cover) had popped off. No charge from garage. All ok for 2 weeks - again sudden loss of power (fun this time as was do 70 in outside lane of a busy M25). Pulled over to hard shoulder, swore at garage / car. Waited a few mins, then managed to drive home slowly. Back in garage, this time they replaced the lead. No charge from garage. All of for 1 week, then today, M4 just outside Swindon, again loss of power etc etc. Back in garage tomorrow. So, what should I say / do? Don't think that it is the lead, as it has happened twice now - could it be the sparkplug connection? Havn't got a spanner with me to take the cover off to have a look, but getting p****d off. It's only happened to me so far, not the misses, and it isn't a nice experience to be in the outside lane of a busy motorway and lose your engine power. Anyone heard of this before?Cheers,Josh Quote
El Dingo Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Do a search - during a diesel v petrol flaming, another member mentioned that 2.3 petrol engines are prone to rubber perishing around the coil packs.... Quote
galaxychap Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 also check coil packs for cracks on top face i had same problem turned out to be them so with a liberal coating of epoxy resin to seal cracks all is now fine Regards Leon Quote
