Sorry for another newbie question but i was wondering if all four door red lower door lights can be retro fitted or do i need to rewire the lot?

I was hoping that they have put the loom in for all models so people or ford garages can retro fit??

Any help would be greatfuly recieved. :)

Probably not! you may have to wire them in, best bet is pop a door card off and see if the plugs sitting there waiting

just a thought? do you have illuminated foot wells and the lights in the rear quarter panels next to the rear doors?

I don't have illuminated foot wells but i do have the rear lights in the boot.

Can i also add the lights into the front foot wells?

The rear ones by the hatch at high leval are OE, it's the lower one at floor level near the rear doors, that are extra's, these are linked into the curtesy light circuit along with the foot well lights and door lights

have a good look round below the glove box for a empty plug, the same on the drivers side you may find them plugged into a oval blanking plate

On mine I have the blanking plates but no wires or connectors, it seems to be pot-luck on some models whether they are or are not there.

I've done it but all my cables and plugs were in place  for me it was just a case of cutting out of the holes and clipping in the lights

Hi everyone

I would be very happy if I can do this. I believe I have the cables in the doors, because i have iluminated foots. I believe I just need to make the same as vr6galaxy, or open the holes.

Is it possible to put or send some photos.

Thanks

If the cables are there? they will be taped up to the main loom in the doors, drop a door card and take a look :o as for the footwell lights they will either be tucked up out the way or as stated earlier plugged into the blanking plates

the rear lower quarter panel lights plugs againg are either taped to the main loom above the rear arches or tucked down behind the panels near the mounting holes in the panel? if these are not there it's just a case of piggy backing them off the rear lights near the rear hatch :D

I'm stuck with the front footwell lights, the area's are there to mount the lights but a loom, blanking plates?

Can somebody please take some pics, there must be somebody with a Digital Camera to take some pics?

IIRC if you run your hand along the horizontal flat plastic strip which is below the lower glove box the blanking plate will be felt, proud of this strip. It is 3-4 cms wide and maybe 7-8cms long. It can either be gently prized out of its hole or I think you can reach up behind it with a couple of fingers and push it out from the back. On mine, as stated earlier, the plug for the light was secured in a clip on the back of the blanking plate. The mark1's had an oval plate and light but the mk2's are rectangular. Andy.

I found the blanking plate ok, but no wires.

I took the glovebox out and the surrounding panels and couldn't find any wires at all for the light.

Does anyone know where about the wires come from in the loom??

If not I'll just take a feed from one of the other lights.

finally fitted footwell lights.

Took the feed from the front middle light, theres 3 wires:

thick brown - earth

thin brown - switched earth

red - constant live

So just took it from the red and thin brown down to the footwells.
