Guest noomsybaby Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 You will need the red master key to program up your new key, (think it is mentioned somewhere on these forums if you search) assuming the ford blank has got a transponder chip in it. A cut key that does'nt have the chip in it will not work due to the PATS security system. Quote
bigdaddy Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 You need to program the two keys at the same time,,,,,,,,,, when you program the first key you have 15secs to program the new key,,,,, you need the red key to program the transponder chip in the new key to your PATS system,,,,,,,,or go to ford to do it,,,,,,,, Quote
Masked Marauder Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 When you program the remote fobs you need to do them all at once as programing clears the previous fobs. Does the key you bought have a transponder chip? If so you will need to have the dealer or a specalist locksmith program it to the car. If it does not have the chip then you need to get a chip from somewhere, put it in the key and then get it programmed to the car. Quote
tintinbike Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006  Thanks for all of the info What I think it means is I need to program both keys within 15 seconds - got that bit will try tomorrow. Both keys have transponder so I guess I need the 'Red' key to set up the new key? My existing key is definitely not red so I will search on red key. Thanks again. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Yours won't have a red key. It needs programed by the dealer or someone with the right hardware. And the remote fobs both need programed one after the other, not the keys. Quote
