Guest dtr36 Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 hi just picked up our 2.3 petrol galaxy but seems to rev high on tickover also high when driving when you dipp clutch it sometimes gous down to normal 800 isg rpm,is there a problem with icv ?or any help please Quote
Steven.Langdale Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 How high is high? When you 1st start the engine and its cold it will tickover higher than normal. This will drop when the car warms up. When moving the tickover is also elevated. Try pressing the clutch, watch the idle speed and then stop the car. A few seconds later it will drop again. Guest dtr36 Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 no idle is ok when cold etc but when its when running at normal temp its not choke sticking etc, Quote
Steven.Langdale Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 How high is it then? under what conditions is it high? stationary? moving? Steven Quote
Guest dtr36 Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 it revs up to about 3000 revs and you dont ned to put your foot on pedal to drive it but if you dip clutch it drops down but tickover seems erratic as well? Quote
charles Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I guess the air control valve, try cleaning it first. also a duff lamda sensor or bad contacts of the connector can make the mixture too lean, also resulting in high revs. Quote

Guest Wanny Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Funny, my 2.3 has just started playing up with the same problem. Were is the Air Control Valve on the 2.3 ??? Cheers Ian Quote
johnb80 Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Air leaks into the inlet manifold also cause this, check the vacuum piping to servo etc. Regards - JB Quote
