soptom Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I'm glad your mind is put at rest a bit, as has been said many times, the pedal travel is long, not excessive, there is a difference. It could be the case that a solid pedal is considered wooden and lacking in progression too. ;) Quote
johnb80 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I would have to disagree with that (I'm sure that won't come as a suprise!). Brakes work on pressure, the travel does nothing for the feel, what you want is progressive retardation the harder you press. Pedal movement does nothing other than slow down your response, 70mph = 105 feet per second, if pedal travel is long it could easily take 2/10ths of a second which equates to over 20' of travel. So if you're unfortunate enough to stuff something up the backend, that pedal travel if sorted may have avoided it. All hypothetical I know but it COULD happen and it COULD have been avoided.
