Steven - Current sitiuation is.......................still not fixed !!

Ford fitted a new gearbox last week, however the car would not change gear properly on the road test. The tec's at ford think there are 2 Transmission Control Modules for a 2001 (Y) and the liklyhood is the the replacement box has the wrong one. However Ford's main depot is saying there is only One type and that the replacement gearbox must be faulty.....Torque convertor. New box was supposed to be fitted yesterday, as of 6pm today heard nothing !!!!!!!!!

If there are any for tec's out there can anyone confirm the TCM situation......

Well, at least your getting a new gearbox.

Did you say before that they were swapping the TCM as well?

Similar thing happend to me with the previous owner of my car. Had a funny thrumming type noise, under warranty, so in goes a new auto gearbox. I get the car, and lo-and-behold, i hear this thrumming noise. I didn't hear it on the test drive. it was the front wheel bearings. When I told Ford Protect what it was they were not happy with the prev dealer

They have changed the TCM Twice now. I think the problem is they don't know what the problem is but don't have the balls to admit..

I can answer that, they didn't want to pay them enough, so they replaced them with spanner monkeys with big hammers.

One of my friends is a manager in the UK head office of a european manufacturer, he would rather be a mechanic, but they wouldn't give him enough time to go a good job, so he got out!

Ford told me that the Transmission control module would have to be replaced along with the new gearbox as it's not wise to change one without the other

Well if its a warranty job and they give a full warranty (e.g. 12 month) on the bits they change then let them do it.

Personally, I feel its a silly little wiring (sensor or loom) fault. But time is money....

By the way i know they are monotoring my comments since i told them how good this site is and how sh*t they are.
We all know that that was a typo and it was meant to read the other way round  :D

Change gearbox and TCM together?? This is outragous profiteering, even by Fraud's standards. (there's 2 words I never thought I would put together!)

I have finally got my gearbox problem sorted. :D The 2nd-hand car dealer I bought the Gal from sent it to Transmission Technology UK in Knowle. One of their better decisions  , as TT really know what they are talking about. Don't be put off by the premises, which are a bit scruffy. They only do automatic transmissions. They changed 1 component, the TCM. OK, they are
