Guest Bandit Baz Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 When reprograming the signal for the central locking the handbook insists that the windows are closed. Can anyone tell me if this is really necessary,as mine open when doing the turn your key three times in the lock thing. Thanks, Baz. Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 You are holding the key in the turned position for too long. Do it for about a second then back. It`s three times altogether. Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Talking of keys.......I have got one key that starts my Galaxy. It`s the one with the remote buttons on. I got an ordinary blank one from Ford and had it cut. It`s got a small black, possibly chip in the black plastic. It unlocks and locks the car and the ignition lights will go on when used inside the car, but won`t start it. Do I really have to take it to my dealer to have it programmed or is there a much easier way to make it work? I don`t want to spend a fortune if I can help it. Ta.. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Depends on the year? pre 98 you need the RED master key or a trip to the dealers or a good locksmith, post 98 two working keys or a trip to the dealers and you can program in another key Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 It`s a 99 model and I only have the one working key...........................................It `s the dealers isn`t it?? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Either dealers or good locksmiths, I had a couple of keys cut and coded on the driveway by a mobile locksmith :P Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks for your help vr6galaxy. I`ll try a locksmith. Quote
Philwalfc Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Hi Baz, Did you get your key done. I'm from the West Midlands area and had one cut by a Mobile Locksmith about a year ago. Cost about Quote
Guest Bandit Baz Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Hi PhilRemote still not working I,m going to try some new batteries before I buy another key,I know it sounds obvious! but the guy I bought the car of assured me he had tried new batteries. Quote
gregers Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 it might also be a dry solder in the key fob? Quote
Guest Bandit Baz Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Ok,Changed batteries sometimes it works sometimes it don't.I don't think its the key because it seems to work better(still intermitent) from the passenger side or back of the car.Maybe a receiver can anyone tell me the exact location of these?and has anyone heard of a proplem with static build up I read this can be a problem on mondeo remotes. Many Thanks For all feedback. Baz. Quote
gregers Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 if its only working imtermitently id still see if its a dry solder somewhere on the circuit board of the key fob, because of all the pressing there have to endure, they sometimes break or come loose, had this on my laguna,IIRC was told by the person who fixed mine turn a radio on tune to fm and press the remote up against it if it only interfers with the radio once or twice while pressing hell for leather then it could be that.hope this helps regards gregers Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 I don't think its the key because it seems to work better(still intermitent) from the passenger side or back of the car.Maybe a receiver..... It could be because the recievers for the infra red remotes are mounted above the rear veiw mirror and rear hatch in the the head lineing, this system has a short range and rely's on line of sight for it to work  Quote
Guest Bandit Baz Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 you could be right it may still be the key have checked it and can see no signs of a poor joint, although dry solder joints not always easy to find but I can see why these keys are so expensive lots of components very close together a right pain to resolder! Technology don't you just love it.Thanks again Baz. Quote
bigdaddy Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 My remote locking went the same way. was great when I bought the Gal,,,then the key started to work intermitent,,,,so I thought the batteries where knackered so I replaced them ,,,, then it would not reprogramme,,,,so ended up buying a key off ebay,,,,now remote locking works great,,,, Quote
Guest Bandit Baz Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Just thought I'd let you know it was the key, new one came the other day and it works great ,no more standing by the door waiting for the family to exit! Just jump out and run to the bar :D Thanks again for feedbackBaz. Quote
