GSMGuy Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 SKPang is legit and above board. He sells OEM GENUINE versions of VAG-COM and is licensed by them to do it. Has anone actually looked inside one of SKPangs USB Key-Pro leads... The amount of IC's and stuff in there is unreal... Compare it to a cheap opto coupled lead from Ebay.... My lead (before I sold it to a forum member) worked fine with all the latest software, and, as it is registered with Ross-Tech you get hardware and software support from them! I actually wish I had not sold the lead now, as apparently I could have used it with my Merc... Not that anything has gone wrong.... Fingers X'd! Mike Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 ......well I have actually spoken to Sukkin Pang when I need support with my Vag-com lead....he was very helpful and I got a certificate with mine and it also works with the latest software. I've used it on two Sharans Mk1 and Mk2....and various VW's with no probs........ Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 PMSL - Paul you just reminded me... Sukkin Pang...... What a name, I nearly asked him if it was real when I spoke o him lol.... Sukkin Pang PMSL!!!!! Mike Quote
dave_m Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 personally i wouldn't dare plug in a cheap ebay lead and risk damaging my car or computer, they will not be made to anywhere near the quality of the ross-tech units. Most of the cheap leads do work fine as mentioned but for how long?? tbh i did consider the cheaper leads for a while as i am not made of money but in the end i purchased the ross-tech Key-Com and its worked a treat and saved me a lot of cash so far, it will probably save you the 150 quid you pay for it the first time you use it and diagnose the problem yourself. Even if you are no good at fixing the car at least you are armed with the information on what potentially is wrong with the car before you take it to the stealer or other repairer. As for the software it is very easy to use and provides warnings before you scan the airbags etc. Quote

El Dingo Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Why not order direct from Ross-Tech? :) Quote
Rob C Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 My 97 Gal 2.3 has developed a rough tickover. Had a mate with a a Snap On hand held diagnostic machine check it out, but could only read the codes with it (nothing wrong there). He suggested a full Fraud diagnostic to find the problem. Would a VAG COM diagnose problems with the Ford 2.3 engine? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Why not order direct from Ross-Tech? :) Because the shipping is with DHL and is $45. Add the price of the lead $250 gives $295. That is Quote

It will only read the engine codes from Galaxies with VAG engines. Quote

dave_m Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 mine came from vag-com.co.uk and was delivered quickly I believe they are UK dealers for the ross-tech stuff Quote
fireski Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Earlier today I noticed that vag-com offered discounts to other user groups such as Audi. I therefore emailed vag-com products to ask "are you prepared to offer similar discounts to members of a Ford Galaxy forum? (Please refer to http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...11&st=30)" Vag-com quickly replied : Of course we can help! Let me get some numbers together in the next few days and I'll get back to you. Can you help me with the one post regarding "zero support from cister UK" - if ever we get a request, we respond immediately. I'm concerned that this member has posted this. He or she can of course contact us at support@vag-com.co.uk and we will help! Some of the cheap Chinese ebay cables are using cloned serial numbers from official Ross-Tech products and over time, our software will filter out these cables so that they do not work - Just like Microsoft do with corporate Windows XP licenses.... All our cables are genuine Ross-tech items, shipped from the US to the UK and our prices are inclusive of all taxes and duties - what you see is what you pay, plus Royal Mail special delivery and local handling. Best wishes, Ram I'll post Ram's reply when received. Quote
