johnb80 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I would wager on a decent trip say Lands End to John O Groats driving at legal speeds (and probable at illegal speeds as well) a bog standard 115 TDi would beat a bog standard VR6. The time you guys waste in petrol stations just so you can save a couple of seconds in the traffic light drag means the diesel will sail on by no problem. And when you're doing the legal limit it makes bugger all difference whether its a V6 or a TDi except you muppets are drinking fuel and were not  So guys, stop being jealous, console yourselves that you can get off the line that bit quicker and your engine is quieter and in line with being a V6 it depreciates quicker, it's even rumoured that V6 drivers ejaculate quicker too in keeping with their all important vehicle performance status. In fact, the V6 is so good many owners fit a different fuel system and don't bother with a spare, now there's real common sense for you  Regards - JB Quote
widu13 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 You dont see the motorway police driving TDI Galaxys! Erm, yes you do Tony. Both 130 and 150 flavours. Most Forces are going diesel now! Quote
Guest MATT Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 it's even rumoured that V6 drivers ejaculate quicker too in keeping with their all important vehicle performance status.  so that's why they have to boast about their cars performance! MATT  Quote

Guest MATT Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 i take it that bad then??? if its an auto - its ok - but could do a bit better. if its a manual - then you must have lead boots! MATT  Quote
mumof4 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Manual.hubby just said that it got up to 31.5mpg at 85mph on motorway....tut tut!!!.lose his licence next!! Quote
Sharanfx Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 21 MPG overall average. Tdi's are for Economy and sensibility VR6's are for FUN & us with deep pockets(you just cant beat the sound of the 2.8) Quote
johnb80 Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 (you just cant beat the sound of the 2.8) From a Galaxy point of view I would agree with that whole heartedly. There are of course some other vehicles that sound way better  Quote
seatkid Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 This whole subject of VR6 vs TDi has been done to death!http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/orb/bonk.gif What will be interesting are future engines and their performance. I believe the VAG 2.0Tdi is now available in the Alhambra. Anyone got real life experience of this unit? More interesting to me is whether the 1.4TFSi (170bhp) will live up to the hype and who knows, maybe be a future power unit? As for Ford Galaxies, they start shipping their own breed this year, I wonder if the old Forum requires a makeover to accomodate this. Quote

Guest tonycoates Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 it's even rumoured that V6 drivers ejaculate quicker too in keeping with their all important vehicle performance status. With six kids ready to burst in the room on the vinegar stroke, I have to be quick. Quote
zman Posted January 8, 2006 Author Report Posted January 8, 2006 damn... ask a simple q... and ya get a 3 page thread.... i'm sure i'll cry at the mpg (when I get my v6)... but hey i sounds like i'm gonna enjoy it! as for legal limit mpg... nonsense... i can pretty much bet none of us do it.... as for deprecitation... for 2nd hand buyers like me.. it works in our favour..eg.. i'm hoping to pick up my galaxy tomorrow... y plate. 2.6 ghia auto, 100k miles.. for 4.5k!... now a similar diesel would cost 1500-2k more... so in 18months when i'm sure i'll be bored of it... it'd have worked out the same! anyways... here's to me hopefully picking up the car tomorrow/tues and to some fun motoring! :) Quote
