zman Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 is it possible to retro fit the dvd headrest system? Quote
zman Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 in which case... how much.. who does.. is it worth it....etc etc  Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 how much? no idea? you would need to price up the center consule, the dvd/vhs unit, the switching unit, the head rests, etc and then get the looms and get it all installed who does it? who ever you can get to take on the job? is it worth it? mmm hours of silence from the back seats! no more ARE WE THERE YET? I'M BORED :( (Insert name here) dads car has tellys in the back why havent we? :) kicking seat back for next 35 miles till you kill the little angel :) Several of us have gone down to after market installs, roof mounted flip down screens, in dash, under dash, under seat, in boot mounted DVD/VHS players, cordless head phones etc ...... oh the peace and quite is so worth it :) Quote
Dally Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 These are the prices I got when I was looking at this. Centre console is available in 4 colours approx Quote
zman Posted January 4, 2006 Author Report Posted January 4, 2006 i'm thinking woolworths portable dvd kit x 2... that'll do the job! lol. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Go for a DIY flip down screen and cordless head phones, no cables to trip over :( if you go big enough everyone in the back seats can see the screen ;) then link it into the stereo and blast the sound out ;) we've done trips outs with five brownies in the back and had silence all the way there :D Quote
bazunitec Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I have all of the components ready to fit (few hundred quid off ebay!), but the leads I have which go into the seats seem to have male plugs on the end, as do the screens!! Is there a changeover connector I am missing? everthuing else appears to be there. I have the two plastic pieces that fit into the top of the seats but don't know how these stay fitted in the seat as there appears to be no way to fix them. Has anyone got a list of components or maybe a diagram (other than the microcat one which shows nothing really) I would really love to get this installed and I have had it all working without the picture; just sound.... Thanks in advance Baz Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 but the leads I have which go into the seats seem to have male plugs on the end, as do the screens!! Thanks in advance Just an idea but if you run the cables into place temporarily, do they reach the head rests? if they dont it could be that the section that normally runs up through the seats is missing? and this peice is what you need to connect the loom you have to the screens without any convertor plugs? the plastic peice your on about? convoluted section that hides the cables to the head rests? bazunitec Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Hi, this is the headrest as you can see it has the standard plug on the end. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/bazunitec2/DSCF0641.jpg The plastic thing is this: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/bazunitec2/DSCF0663.jpg It looks to me like it holds a socket for the plug to connect to off the headrest. I would also like to know how this fits into the seat! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/bazunitec2/DSCF0664.jpg The above is the cable I have. It has a black 20 pin plug on one end which connects into the module under the centre console. The blue plugs don't look as if they are long enough to reach the headrests. one has "RH seat" on it, the other has "LH seat" (unsurprisingly!!) I am assuming therefore that there must be some kind of short lead which connects to the blue plugs and then gfastens into the above plastic oval thing which then provides a socket for the headrest screen to connect into so the headrests can be removed if needed Thanks for your reply, I hope you can help further! oh, in case it helps, the finis number for the lead is 1123442, the plastic bezel is 1128653 Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 The plastic thing mounts into the seat backs inbetween the head rest poles, the rubber grommet thats hanging down fron the head rests clips onto it, as for the leads <_< the Sharan doesnt have head rest screens? well there not in my parts lists  Quote
bazunitec Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Thanks. Is there anyone here who can take a picture of the plastic bezel in place at the top of the seat without the headrest in place? Thanks Baz Quote
Dally Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Do these help? BDM2510 did this install. Have not heard from him for a while - might be useful to make contact with him. Quote
bazunitec Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks Dally, I have everything shown in the pictures plus the screens and dvd player. I even have a spare visteon video player and brackets (but not using that!!) The two blue plugs are the ones which go to the seats but they are plugs and not sockets and as such they cannot connect to the headrests' plugs. There must be a changeover lead which fits inside the seat to do this but the guy at Fords didn't know and microcat tells you nothing either..... Quote
Dally Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Try to contact BDM2510 on this forum - he will know but I haven't seen him active on the site for a while. I did a custom install using sony cables up the back of the seat - sorry couldn't help more. Quote
joczeze Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Hi people Can his help: http://euro.evisteon.com/uploads/euro_docu...instruction.pdf or http://euro.evisteon.com/uploads/euro_docu...t_Fitt_Inst.pdf Quote
bazunitec Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 WOW....thanks. I love you and want to have your babies!!! This is really good of you. I have the right cables now so with these instructions, I will be able to do the job this weekend! Thanks to all that replied Baz Quote
Gadgetoid Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Retrofitted the factory fit system to my Galaxy this weekend ( all the expensive parts of the kit came up on eBay in the last two weeks - but each from a different seller - wierd! :D )Now having doubts about how to connect the final two connectors. Tried contacting BDM2510 but his email is no longer active. Perhaps Dally or Bazunitec could tell me how they did theirs. In particular I'm trying to connect up the power and multimedia connectors of the cable F1146020 (picture attached if upload succeeds  ) http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i244/Gadgetoid/PowerLoomF1146020.jpg Top connectors are back of 12v socket and input to multimedia module (in green) - have no problems with these. There are two spare connectors at the bottom of the picture - uppermost looks identical to the CD changer connector - can anyone confirm that these are identical and I can just replace one with the other. The lowest connecter in the picture is obviously a power input with two red, two black and one white wire. I guessing that red is permanent live, black is earth, (as one of each goes to the back of the 12v socket connector) - but I'm not sure about white ??switched live. Ford certainly don't do any cables to further connect either of these - on the 55 plate mutimedia Galaxy I looked over both these connectors plugged into the main wiring loom, and I'm not planning on buying one of these just to butcher it! Visteon did do a cable to connect both of these connectors to the back of the radio using replacement radio plugs - but only as part of a kit (HR-1710). Currently trying them in case I can get this cable as a spare part. Any help you can give would be much appreciated Quote
