Happy New Year to one and all from your newest member ....

I have checked the posts for the last year and haven't come across this problem so far

My 90Tdi Galaxy has started having very intermittent power losses (a bit like the Christmas dinner hiccups) ... ie driving along at 60 and suddenly the engine dies - if you look at the dash board quickly enough the engine has stopped (rev counter drops to 0, glow plug warning light on) but the engine just fires again (normally within the space of time it takes the rev counter to drop to zero).

Assuming the problem to be a fuel supply problem I changed the fuel filter yesterday with no effect.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

David.

A quick shot in the dark, but could it be a fuel pump or injector issue? maybe try a couple of cycles of redex?

Possibly crankshaft position sensor. Or an intermittent electrical connection or even a duff battery.

Is it always when the accelerator pedal is at about the same position? If you have cruise control, does it do it with the cruise control engaged?

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm thinking it may be electrical - after changing the fuel filter yesterday the car did about 50 miles and it 'hiccuped' about half a dozen times. We were out today (did about 30 miles) and it didn't happen at all.

Checking the Tdiclub website - one of their suggestions is that 'Relay 109 is starting to fail'

Looks as if I'll have to bite the bullet and visit the dealer to see if there are any error codes showing up.

Well if someone in your area has VAG-COM they can do that for you, if you put you loctation into your personal information someone might be in a position to help.

If anyone out there is willing to help I'm sitting in sunny Coleraine on the north coast of Ireland!
