Buncers Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 My guess is it is there to protect a number of vunerable parts like the plastic sump. Quote

Masked Marauder Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 TDi engines have a steel sump with a plastic sump-cover. The undertray is required to stop water getting onto the PAS belt and causing steering problems. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 There doesnt appear to any major differences in the undertrays from the Mk1 to the Mk2 apart from the name! the only real major difference is that for the TDI that version has more sound proofing built into it :D this is in order to fool the owners into thinking that their car is just as quite as the petrol version :D Oh! and it also has a bigger drip tray built into it to catch all the oil they leak and dont burn :D Quote
redneck01246 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 ive got one for a mk1 bought for my mk 2 but does not fit if anyone wants it? Quote
GSMGuy Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Apparently, the water on the PAS belt thing is a REAL danger...... And most prob a serious accident causer... I wonder what recourse you could take agains a garage that forgot to refit it???? Mike Quote
Phil Neal Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 anyone found a good source yet, ours went missing sometime recently, garage that did service said it wasn't on when it went in, i know i put it on last oil change... Quote
seatkid Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 As Homer Simpson wisely said:I want to share something with you: The three little sentences that will get you through life. Number 1: Cover for me. Number 2: Oh, good idea, Boss! Number 3: It was like that when I got here. :) Quote
Buncers Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 TDi engines have a steel sump with a plastic sump-cover.It sure flexes like plastic. Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 gaffer tape an old washing up bowl under the PAS pump...that's the only bit that needs shielding. :( Or you could buy mine, I don't need it! ;) Quote
