Hi I'm new here, so hello!

I've recently bought a '99 Galaxy Ghia X. It ( aledgedly), has climate control. There is only one specific vent for the rear which is by the rear passenger wheel arch.

The problem. When the CC is set to 'Auto' the front CC works ok. Nothing comes out of the rear vent. When the rear fan setting is increased to 1 below Max, the rear fan kicks in. However the air from it isn't cold. It is more like normal blower temperature.

Any ideas?

On normal systems, the vent on the rear wheel arch is fed from the blower unit for the aux heater (if diesel engined vehicle); with climate control, you can operate the fan using the rear fan buttons on the A/C panel, but it will just blow air around inside the car - there is no separate airconditioned outlet. If you have dual aircon, cold air comes from the extra vents in the roof headlining.

Yes i forgot to mention that. If you have vents in the roof you have dual aircon, if you haven't got vents in the roof it's single aircon but you will still have seperate controls for front and back temperatures but the air in the back will not be cooled.

If you put the rear fan on when in Auto, the Auto bit drops out. (Single air-con only.)

The rear one can be independently controlled, but it cannot cool if you only have one aircon unit.

To elaborate slightly on that, I believe the back can be made warmer than the front in winter, when you're using the heater, but it can't be made cooler than the front in summer, when you're using the A/C (unless you have dual A/C).

I bet he didn't. There are several Adult Education classes for these Visteon CC units.... :D

Did you not get the Owners Manual? Should have..I would suggest if not then buy one from the Dealer, there is a lot to know about these beasts.
