Guest zeppelin4 Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 A '99 2.3 Ghia X auto. The engine 'knocks' from cold. You can easily hear it and feel it slightly through the Auto gear stick. When it's warmed up it's ok, but can still knock slightly if I accelerate hard. Took it in to the local Ford dealers and explained the problem. But get this! Booked it in and when I picked it up they said that they had traced the noise to the rear tailgate and had fixed it. No engine fitted there as far as I know! I expressed my doubts shall we say - but they were adamant. Of course, the engine was no different - but now (after their fixing) the tailgate doesn't always shut properly and the rear wiper doesn't wipe all it's intended path. And the dealers were delighted to announce it had all been done for FREE! That's right! It really didn't cost me anything at all! That's service for you  I will of course, be paying another visit  Quote
