Guest xck83 Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 I have been looking to get a Galaxy for a couple of months and, after considering a second hand one, am thinking of a new TDi Zetec via someone like drivethedeal or whoever might do it cheapest. I don't know why the Galaxy over the Alhambra or Sharan - it just seems higher discounts are available and therefore it would be better value. I am now wondering whether the Citroen C8 might be worth considering (again, some good deals seem to be available). It has sliding rear doors (with 3 kids and limited parking space this seems such an advantage) and seems to have lot more thought in it (it's newer so I suppose they have had more chance to incorporate these sort of things). Does anyone have any thoughts as to which option might be best - I like the Galaxy but just wish it could incorporate some of the bits from the Citroen / Peugeot type. Thanks Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Take a Galaxy and a C8 for a test-drive; see which you prefer and if there are any major annoyances. Study vehicles and brochures/spec sheets, identify any items that you really MUST have - such as rear parking sensors etc - check if these are standard or options (or not available).Consider depreciation and likelihood of re-selling a few years down the line - if you want to. Take into account likely problem areas (did I hear someone say Galaxy air conditioning?), ease of obtaining, and price, of replacement parts. You are now in a place to make a reasoned decision. Most of us on this site came out in favour of the Galaxy!!Good luck - and whatever you choose, you won't be wrong.Ivor Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 If I had been buying now, rather than Feb this year, I would probably plump for the C8/807. Mainly on value, and up to date specs. The reason I didn't go for one then was that they had only been on the RHD market for a few weeks, and they need time to get production/design bugs out. I don't like being a Beta tester. They are considerably quieter and smoother than the VW MPV, but it all comes down to taste and requirements.... I had several vehicles for extended "test drives"...this proved really useful in determining which I would prefer to live with, and whether they suited the family or not. I would strongly suggest you also adopt this approach. Happy hunting. Quote
