Guest Checker Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 when I switch off the ignition and the car has been running you can hear a faint ticking noise. Even when the air con is off..any ideas? Quote
Bandito Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Mine also makes a "ticking noise" seems to be coming from glove box area when i switch off i think its some thing to do with heater controls that are controlled by a vacuum Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 You're probably hearing the wind-down phase of the booster heater. This carries on for a minute or two after you've turned the engine off. Early ones make quite a loud tick but some are quiet and you won't hear them with the engine on. Or it could be your aux water pump. But I'd go for the booster heater myself. Either way, nothing to worry about and plenty written on both subjects elsewhere on this site - just use the search engine. Blatters Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 But I'd go for the booster heater myself. On a 2.3  Quote

Masked Marauder Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Sounds like a failing after-running pump. Does it have one? Quote
jaf1naf1 Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 i suffered with the same noise and a technician at ford said it was normal. it was something to do with the car resettings itself it is situated inside the engine compartment at the right hand side at the back off the engine.it is a metal square box shape thing.
