davec Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 has anyone added a timer to the galaxy diesel heater so it can come on before you use it i have seen an eberspacher heatre on that site and was wondering about fitting that Quote
Masked Marauder Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 I have been looking into DIYing this. It seems simple enough but there are a few minor problems. I need a metering pump to play with. I need to know if the standard one actually pumps or just meters pre-pumped fuel. The Ford TIS suggests that it is pre-pumped fuel as it says it is in the return pipe, the Elsawin SEAT says it is on the feed pipe, so would need to pump on it's own! Basically if the metering pump is a pump, to make it run timed you need a second battery or battery saver, split charge relay, timer, pump (some cars will have this, you can use the after running pump) and a few relays and diodes. Guest pnwheels Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Yes, I have the Eberspacher parking heater upgrade. About 2 hrs to fit. You get a control box, elec water pump, and timer unit. The existing metering unit is fine - its powered from the heater. The downside is the instructions are in German! The fans come on low speed, though I homemade an electronic delay so they don't blow cold air. A basic parking override would be quite easy to rig up. You just override the alternator and ambient temp sender signals as the heater is permanent live. A 12v water pump would also be required. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Thanks for that, you have made my day! Does the kit you bought use a secondary battery? Quote
Guest pnwheels Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Hi MM , no it just uses the standard battery. Power drain is not too bad-the fans draw the most. The timer runs for 60 mins by default. Too much use and too many short journeys may start to flatten the battery, if 3 bleeps are heard on starting, this is a low voltage warning. I leave mine on a trickle charge overnight. Quote
davec Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 thanks for that where did you get your kit from, were all the brackets etc with it are the kits model specific Quote
