disease oil man Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Hello My 90 diesel has failed on me. low compression and big ends are shot out.I am looking for a second hand replacement engine. As for options can I replace it with a 115 lump or any other ?I am not interested in a performance hike just to know if the cores is the same. Also are the older 1.9 non turbo lumps the same core ? Thanks in advance Lee Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Hello, you won't be able to use the PD engines as they have a completely different engine bay loom amongst other things. I'd stick with the 90 HP unit if I were you, it's the most reliable. Just get yours reconditioned (turbo as well) and fit a new clutch while you're at it. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 All the 1.9 Diesels share the same bottom end, the block, sump, crank etc are all the same. It may be easier to source a good bottom end and mate it up to what you have. Quote
disease oil man Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 Thanks for the info, So are the pistons the same as well.I take it's the head and different pumps, ecu setups etc that give the hp difference.Just wondering about compression ratio etcDoes that include the older non turbo blocks ? Masked Marauder Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 I am starting to think that I am wrong as there appears to be some subtle differences with the bottom ends. I am too tired to check right now, I will do tomorrow. Quote
