Guest land rovers suck Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 me and my gal are getting along great except for one thing ;) my right foot :D i really try to leave it in the same place while driving to say work, but my petrol gauge is saying that another shuttle as left planet earth :D the auto box is working smoothly and quitely as expected ;) but the fuel just evaporates like i own a quarter mile high octane racer. could it be my lack of auto driving experience, i don't boot the bitch - honest, i really try to keep my foot in the same place.anyone... Guest MATT Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 a ford galaxy 1.9tdi auto zetec 115 - 2003 should get about 42 mpg when driven lightly, but with the cold weather, expect to loose a fair bit. in the summer i can go for weeks without setting foot on a petrol station, but now winter is here, it is more often. i think the top tips are:- keep moving at roundabouts/junctions (ie judge it so you dont have to stop)- don't accelerate hard, accelerate gently- make sure its in the highest gear possible, with the Auto, if you think it could be in a higher gear, sometimes just lightly lifting your foot off the accelerator, makes it change up, thus reducing your Revs. I'm sure you know how to drive economically, but automatics ar'nt as good in terms of MPG figures :( MATT Quote
seatkid Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Mayb you should try using diesel instead of petrol.... :( Quote
