just been to fill my gal up for the first time - i don't know if its me but does everyone have trouble getting the diesel gun into the filler opening, i mean all the way to the rubber shield (black) i know that the diesels have a narrowing nect to stop plebs putting petrol in a diesel car, i haven't done that - but i have had a hell of a game getting the neck all the way in. no jokes please.

i got a petrol & has no problems

sometime you need to pull it out the hole

to allow the build up of vapours to be released as

it will cut off the supply lol

no dirty replies please

I have a petrol as well and find that some pumps just try to pump fuel in far too fast, or are overly sensitive at cutting off.

I now know which pumps to avoid at my local Tesco and tonight I discovered that Pump 10 is really good. Filled the tank quickly without cutting out or me having to restrict the flow.

I find that the angle of the nozzle also makes a big difference and if the pump is on the wrong side of the car it can take forever to fill the tank :o

Regards

There is a vent button on the top of the filler hole, the larger diesel nozzle usually presses it open. Or perhaps because we don't fill up as often we have more patience.

If you're after a speedy fill, pull up at a truck pump; they seem to run at about 3 times the speed of normal car pumps !

Can you use the diesel truck pumps then?

1. it doesn't froth over because of the speed of flow?

2. you don't get grief from the truck drivers or kiosk person?

Could be helpful to beat the long queues sometimes for the car pumps.

Yes - I've used a truck pump before. No problems from the cashier, but probably best to make sure you're not holding up a large artic that's in a hurry. Mind you, the time they take to fill up with several hundred litres - it's not much of a delay for them to wait for the occasional car to fill up.

A lot of the newer TDI's have a smaller filler neck now and wont accept the large quick flow nozzles! so check before you block the pump

again this is another topic that has been covered in detail elsewhere on the forum! it was decided that this is a problem that efffects all models not just petrol versions! one of the reason for this occurance is the possability of a kinked breather pipe on the fuel tank! this is noted on the TIS, and IIRC a couple of members had this occurance checked out by their dealers

lorry users often have to clear their card and they usually grab a drink as well so they havent got upset while ive used their pump

If you can hang it out to quarter of an hour you can book it as a break on your tachograph......

i agree with the last comment there all big fat hairy mothers and the male drivers ain't that good looking either. :)

we all pay the same road tax - pay the same for petrol/diesel - so why let the hairy arses have it all there way,

REMEMBER anyone who says - 1-9 FOR A COPY ... is gay and out there  - if you have to hitch hike put the sign down when lorries pass you - they will kill you and probably eat you too, the male drivers will use you for hair and make up lessons. B) :D

then stop moaning and keep trucking 'big boy' - you pollute, cough up the loot.

Everyone pays. You use the goods, you pay.

Anyone who thinks we can do without trucks should spend 12 hours not using anything that has been on a truck at some stage in it's life. You would have to stand naked in the middle of a field to do it.

I am currently petitioning to get every truck driver to have the same two weeks summer holiday so there will be no trucks clogging up the roads for a whole two weeks. So you had better get plenty of supplies in as there will be nothing in the shops after the first few days and no fuel at the filling stations.

NOOOOOOOO  if you figure that two thirds of them are shed pullers :P they will block the roads more than they do normally :P there are enough sad shed pullers on the road at certain times of the year as it is without clumping them altogether on the roads at the same time :P

Hold up a minute! lets All take two weeks off (if the schools can change the calender, and no hotels/campsites/airlines/resteraunts will bump up the prices for these 14 days)

I say we start 09:03 a week friday. Anyone up for it?

Gone off the plot a little bit haven't we? ;)

I have driven, a Renault 5 (1.1), a couple of Golf GTI's, a BMW 525, an M3, some awfull hire cars and now my beautiful 2.3 Galaxy. They have all done the same 35 minute journey to work in the same time, (even the bus service) give or take 10 seconds - depending on traffic lights and roundabouts. So, lets not give a moments more thought to the extra time we spend at the pump.

If you want to be quicker at the pump, put less fuel in!

Then again, just take a deep breath and laugh at all the people queueing so they can drive on the left of a pump because they don't realise that if they knew how to drive and park, the hose would fit around/over the top of a people carrier! ;)

No, you need to fill the tank to spend less time at the pump overall.
