Hi everyone,

I've been reading & searching the forum for a while now, but this is my first post. As a releatively new Alhambra diesel driver I hope to benefit in future from the cumulative knowledge of the group.

My immediate query is that the cover has 'disappeared' from my N/S headlight washer overnight - anyone know how to refit a new one? I ask because the washer jets pop up out of the bumper when in use, but are otherwise retracted.

I appreciate that the Galaxy may have a different mechanism, but any help or guidance is appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

...It simply clips in place, someone has probably pinched it! ;)

Are these optional, as I thought my ghia had most of the gadgets and I've not got them ?? :)

I was losing the offside cover after a short period where it would jam open. I have since "adjusted" the peg that locate it in the bumper when it retracts. Adjusted means bending it a little.

Thanks guys for the info.

Exactly how does the cover attach to the jet spray device that pops up - if I locate the cover over the guidance holes and press it down, will it self engage with the jet whilst it is retracted? Is it worth adding a small amount of adhesive to stop it falling off again?

I too own a Sharan Carat VR6 and also has the same problem, N/S jet missing. It is extremely embarrasing when I am at lights and need the window washers, I get a lovely little fountain coming out the front of the bumper.

But anyway, they should just slip over the jet mounting and not need glue. I lost mine after replacing the stat and plastic pipe running across the engine block. I had to remove the entire front of the car to access it. After replacing the bumper, i must not have positioned it correctly, the next time I used washers, it must have popped out, cleaned headlight and then caught on the bumper on retraction. Just make sure, when you fit it, like mentioned above, that is has enough clearance on retraction, otherwise the spring mount on the jet will not pull it fully back and you may lose it again.

Hope you sort it.

maybe test it multiple times on the drive way first, so if it does come off, you haven't lost it

Only just got the bits from the dealer to fix this. After getting it sprayed and refitted, it's not really a function that I need on a vehicle, as I regularly clean the windows & all lights anyway in the winter.

How do I go about disabling this? I've looked in the handbook and fusebox diagram, and I cannot see an independent fuse, so I guess it's on the windscreen wash wipe circuit?

Any ideas as to how I could get this function disabled?

Try pulling F11, F32, relays K8 and K34, these are linked into the headlight washer system

I have the same problem with a recently purchased 2005 Galaxy. Fortunately whilst testing everything on the drive. It seems that the locating pins catch when retracting back into the bumper - this either jams the spray assembly or throws the cover off completely (hence one of our members loss and not maybe due to theft). The question is. how do you get the spray assembly to stay up to enable ease of fitting the cover?

Hope someone can help.....................Newra
