Guest tomskj Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I have a Ford Galaxy 2.8 V6 Auto (1996). When the car is stationary, the engine is running and the heaters are on I have this smell of petrol soming into the car. It doesn't do this when moving. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a solution to this problem? Quote

Masked Marauder Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Check the carbon canister and pipes to and from it. It is located in the passenger side wing. Quote
dave_m Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 seriously, you might have a petrol leak, i would check it out if i were you, when you are going at speed the airflow at the front of the car will push the fumes away fron the ventilation intakes. Quote

Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 No idea, but its not an item that fails unless it gets full of petrol! if it does then you have other problems to worry about! the most common problem with it are that the hoses to it pop out and vent into the atmosphere hence the petrol smell! either that or its cracked! delboyt Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 check hoses m8aclean all hose links then start enginemove each hose & the connectionto see if it's splitthe reason for running the engine is that you will see the petrolcome out the hose if it's split i had it happen sometime back on an 1996 escortit was bloody small split & it gave the same symptons as you are getting Quote
