Brake Light Switches

Hi folks, just for info regarding brake light switches. In my case for a 1995 Sharan 1.9 TDi. Initial enquiries with dealer suggested only two possibilities, two terminal or four terminal, mine was a two terminal. This is not so, there are two types of two terminal switch. Mine had a blue body, the wrong one was black. The plunger on mine was about 3/4 of the length of the wrong one. The terminals on mine were much smaller and closer together than the wrong one which had normal looking Lucas type tags. Finally,after much discussion, the correct switch was located in the dealers parts list not under 'brake switch' but somewhere in amongst engine Lambda sensors etc. Pain tho' it is I would advise taking the switch out and getting the ref number before venturing into dealer land! :D
