Guest adekeys Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 My wiper keeps stopping after moving just a few centimeters after pushing the switch, is there a problem with the relay or is it just a dicky switch? any help or diagrams of wiring would be much apprecated Quote
Topbloke Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 possible broken wires in the tailgate area (rubber trunking top corner) they are quiet prone to this fault Quote
Buncers Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Mine's been doing the same for a while. It appears to be the wiring in the tailgate (rubber trunking), because every now and then, when I open or shut the tailgate the wiper will move. Does everything fall apart on this car after a few year? Quote
Guest adekeys Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 is there enoth cable to splice a new section on? Quote
Buncers Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Pull the trunking off at one end and push back. You might see some of the wiring pulling apart (because they are overstretched). Mine's been like it for some time. My trunking is even split. I have cut and spliced lots of the wires in that section. I must have missed this one. Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 well re cableed all the cable that are damaged but still cannot get the wiper to work properly. is there a timing relay somewhere. had a quick look on a tis i borrowed but no menstion of this. Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 No, I'm busy Christmas shopping! <_< Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 There is one relay for the rear wipers K64 middle row second from left, this is the timer relay, below that is K11 intermitent wiper front, the only other relay for the wipers is K175 front wipers, top row, far right, if possible short out the relay and get the wiper to work constantly and see if the problem still occurs? pins 2 and 3also lift the wiper blade away from the window and try it? does it work any better? if so you could be suffering from a seized spindle shaft! have you tried lubing any of the moveing parts of the wiper mech to see if that helps? Ill try and help as I hate xmas shopping and am man enough to tell my wife to go and do it <_< unlike marcus :P my my marcus, that colour pinny really brings out the blue in the bruiseing around your eyes  Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 ...wassa pinny? You leave my eyes out of it, I'm tired! ...I just don't respond well to people shouting at me, see how you like it... RAHRAHRAHBLAHBLAHBLAH!!!! I mean you only get 16 years for murder, a man can do a lot in prison (lots of peace and quiet). Marriage is a life sentence! Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 * wispers* sorry for the shout but my wife is giving me hell for not having a rear wiper Quote
Guest Simon S Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 Slightly off topic - But... My 2001 Galaxy rear washer just produces a feeble squirt which does not reach the top of the window. I can't find any sign of a leak inside at the front of the car under the dash... I have pushed a bit of wire in to clear the hole. Do I need to strip the whole wiper / washer assembly down? Any one got any further ideas? Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 is the passenger foot well wet? if so its the dreaded pipe under the cured panel at the side of the seat. Have a seach to find lots on this topic Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Back to the original problem..... have spliced all the cables that run through the tailgate with no luck. Could somebody tell me (who has access to a tis) where the connectors for the looms are located, as it could be one of these broken/loose... thanks Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 25, 2005 Report Posted December 25, 2005 is there nobody that can help??? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 25, 2005 Report Posted December 25, 2005 IIRC drivers side cubby hole around/above rear light unit  Quote
Guest adekeys Posted December 25, 2005 Report Posted December 25, 2005 tried that one, is there any others Quote
daddyfixit Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 reviving an old topic here; rear wiper packed in last week, so this morning repaired some more tailgate wires, but still not working ? removed the rear motor (valeo), to find the spindle seized (just like the front ones used to be) it was rusted to death so filed and then scotch-cloth to polish it up. rebuild with fresh grease and an extra o-ring on the spindle packed with vaseline, all working and no more stop/start/stop across the screen. i read up on it first on the sgaf website, really good reading stuff on there so next weekend its prompted me to renewing all 14 wires in the tailgate loom, as i am so fed up of repairing the wires 1 by 1.
