Guest land rovers suck Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 being new to auto box vehicles, any help please... when i pull off if i floor it so to speak it is really responsive, but if i lift off a little it falls back on the revs and seems to match my pedal depth, do you know what i mean by that - sorry i am new to this and thick as pig shit too. theres no loss of power or anything and fuel consumption is really good, around 45mpg ish in town. no funny noises what so ever? any one - sorry i haven't really explained it right. :) Quote
Guest MATT Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 i think i know what you mean. as far as im aware, Automatics have 3 modes. Economy, Sport mode, and Kick down. economy is self explanatory, it is slowish, but gets best MPGs, it is activated by hardly pressing the accelerator. Sport mode i think is the best, this is when you press the accelerator, quickly, almost to the floor, it sort of takes off in this mode. Kick down is a bit odd in mine, this is when you press the accelerator right to the floor, on mine the revs go up to around 4,000 rpm, yet the car doesn't really go anywhere for a while, then it changes up, and it starts to accelerate. right, returning to your question. if you activate sport mode, and hold your foot in the same place, the car will stay in sport mode, and continue accelerating, now, if you take your foot of it, even a tiny bit, it will disengage sport mode, and go into normal mode so to speak. i have also found it seems to match the position of the pedal, this i find useful, once you've got use to it.
